Leo & Randy On Staying At Home

The global Covid-19 crisis now has most of us in America living under a “shelter in place” rule, meaning we’re isolated at home except to take care of things necessary to maintain our health and safety. We can go to the pharmacy, grocery store, gas station, bank, pick up take-out food, etc. Otherwise, the government wants us to stay at home.

How are you getting along during this time? Are you doing things you wouldn’t otherwise be doing? For instance, Leo and his family report they’re sitting down for dinner together every night, something many of us haven’t done since we were kids. Today, on the What Anyone Can Do podcast, we talk about coping with this new stay at home law .

Do you want to laugh? Then watch these brilliant Tweets by a British “football” announcer (Nick Heath) who is using this time to put his play-by-play skills to good use.

Leo & Randy On Trial & Error

Leo kicks off today’s discussion with a phrase that speaks to what inhibits too many of us from taking meaningful action – psychological safety. Quite simply, we’re afraid. The result? Inaction.

The highest achievers lean into doing things and figuring it out as they go. It’s largely trial and error activity unbothered by imperfection.

Leo & Randy On Best Teams

Leo is putting in the work toward publishing his new book. The content is driving deeper thoughts about our work together in groups and teams. During his workshops, Leo will often ask participants to talk about their memories and experiences with the best teams of their lives. Leo & Randy On Truth To Power

Leo published an article at CEOWORLD last May (2019) about speaking truth to power. He approached it from the vantage point of both the leader (CEO) and those who report to the leader (employees).

Mark Twain said, “Never tell the truth to people who are not worthy of it.” However, Leo and Randy maintain we’re all worthy of it. Speaking the truth to power isn’t always easy, but there’s value in pursuing the ideal. Today, Leo and Randy discuss the main points of the CEOWorld article (see the links below).

Leo & Randy On Challenge (Season 2020, Episode 5)

“Don’t limit your challenges; challenge your limits.”   ― Jerry Dunn

Jerry Dunn was known as the “Marathon Man” because in the year 2000 he ran 200 marathons. His quote speaks to this episode of the What Anyone Can Do Podcast – the high value derived when others will caringly challenge us to help us achieve more. Specifically, sometimes it’s about helping people achieve exactly what they say they want. High-performing teams and groups are able to openly and safely challenge each other for ongoing improvement and growth.
